The San Francisco Bar Pilots were involved in the safe transit of the oil tanker Dubai Star on the evening of October 29. A bar pilot directed the vessel without incident to Anchorage 9, south of the Bay Bridge, and departed the ship by midnight.
First reports of a fuel spill came at 6:45 a.m. on October 30 during bunkering operations. No personnel from the San Francisco Bar Pilots were involved.
